GIRLS WEEK!

I've been brainstorming to come up with some ideas for fun stuff we can do during our Girls Week and Jaci had some requests too.
Here are a few ideas for you to contemplate:
Shopping at Mills Mall or The Galleria
Six Flags (Friday night Fright Night)
flea market/swap meet
Forest Park--pretty much everything is free!
  • Jewel Box
  • Boathouse
  • Zoo
  • Art Museum
  • Science Center

I'm trying to see if I can track down some of those kennel things for babies. I figured if I could borrow from some friends it would be easier than everyone bringing their own. I'm also working on borrowing car-seats and strollers. I think I might be able to find a couple, but there has recently been a rash of new babies in the ward, so everything might be in use. Jaci called the airline and they told her that car seats & strollers don't count as "extra luggage" or as a carry on.

The main issue I'm having is I called Enterprise to see what vehicles they have that can accomodate 9 of us--and they either have a 7-passenger tahoe or a huge 15 passenger van(expensive). SO, here is my really, big question: Do we rent a Tahoe and drive two cars everywhere we go (double fuel costs)? Or do we rally this bad boy:
You know I want to relive my glory days at Navajo Trails of driving a 15 packer loaded with kids and pulling a boat, but it's just sooo un-sexy. We'd look like pligs, piling out with six "sisters" and 3 babies, especially if Tye decided to come along. Ewwww.

Your thoughts?

Well...I think any of those fun items listed sound terrific! I'm up for whatever. Now the Van on the other hand...sweetness. Just as long as we have someone big enough to see over the steering wheel drive the monster....I'm good! (Jaci...are you with me?) And if we end up needing to sing to the babies "the wheels on the bus..." we'd be right in line! hahaha :)

ok, first of all were you referring to FAT when you said "big enough to drive" and then mentioned my name? because that is just rude to point out the obvious! now that i have voiced my paranoia. I say you figure out if the cost of the plig van is more than what it would be to fuel 2 vehicles. then we can decide. We will ALL(underline, underline) be helping to pay for the rental/gas anyway, so what ever you think is best. Sarah has this weird phobia of butterflies...unless they are dead.
and did you find out if six flags is cheaper on friday night?
If we do as much free stuff as possible then, when we do have to pay for something it wont be so painful. those are just my thoughts... as i sit here in my double wide, admiring my hard-packed dirt front yard filled with half-naked chitlins, an old rusty pinto, and a a greasy transmission.

My thoughts were also 'the cost of fueling 2 cars as to 1 monster van'. I don't care who maneuvers the monster (as long as it's not me!) but I also have complete confidence in Ang motoring the beast as I saw her in action the summer she unloaded her ragtag charges in our backyard and then chauffeured them to the loop and where ever. We can always bring a pillow or two if need be.
Then again, 2 cars might come in handy if anyone decides they've had enough and wants to return home or to a spa or resthome . . . .

I was just playing around with the ticket pricing - I can't see that friday is any less, in fact they aren't open during the week, soooo
Regular price tickets are $44.95 but if you buy them on the internet they are $5 cheaper PLUS if you put in buy 3 they print you out a 4th ticket for free. then we would have to put in to buy another 2 or 3 if Tye is adventurous, and it would then give us another free on which we could scalp at the front gate. that would save us at least $64 if not an additional $39.99 . Or Tye could sell it to one of his friends for $30 if he felt he needed some moral support against all the females.

I called Six Flags to see if Fri. night tickets were cheaper, due to the short hours--they're not. BUT
Our local grocery store sells Six Flags tickets at the service counter for $30 each instead of $45 which is still cheaper than buy 3, get 1 free. I also asked about pricing w/ military ID (thinking Jaci could hook us up somehow) but it's the same price as the grocery store.
As far as the rental car goes, I'm leaning toward renting a smaller vehicle (Tahoe or something like that) rather than the monster van, but I'm waiting for a call from the Enterprise guy to tell me his best deal.
I think we ought to for sure go to the Butterfly House just to see Sarah freak out. That might be REALLY funny free entertainment. Don't worry, we'll have plenty of diapers/wipes on hand to clean her up.

ALSO, i hit up my book club girls for strollers, car seats, play pens. I can get at least 3 of everything--so let me know what you'd rather bring yourself and what you'd rather borrow. I've also been offered high chairs, bouncy chairs, etc. so let me know if you want something like that.

Oh, one more thing--what groceries should i buy before you get here? No idea if your babies are old enough to eat any kinds of food/drink yet. Should I buy milk? what kind? Should i buy cheerios? potatoes? hamburger? Please tell me ANYTHING you can think of because chances are I don't have most of the stuff that you use everyday.

chocolate...ddddefinitely chchocolate

as far as what you might borrow for the baby.... i am not sure. let me think about it. because if i dont have to haul all that shift throught the airport that will be awesome and i think between mom, sarah and i we can juggle halle. so maybe i wont bring my own stroller/carseat. what is the latest that you need to know by?
sarah was checking out the different places you suggested and we decided that we want to go to the zoo. also anywhere at forest park will be fun too.

Ok, the rental is going to be a 7-seater, so we'll be in 2 vehicles where ever we go. The price is $32/day, so we'll each just pay one days' worth. cool?
Let me know about baby equipment by Saturday night (the 5th) so I will have time on Sunday to run around and borrow what we need.

That would be great if I could reserve a pack-and-play (play pen), and a car seat. I'm not sure about the stroller yet- depending on need in the airports I may bring my own. I'll let you know if I need one. The only other item that would be super helpful is a high chair. Thanks so much Angie- your the best!

This feels like packing for girls camp, pepsi, only on a younger scale. not tents and cots, but strollers and high pepsi chairs. will we have to worry about pantie raids and snipes? pepsi.
from your experience, what's the weather gonna be like? valuim. I believe i am actually looking forward to hotflashes so i don't have to freeze all the time. k-bye

kaaaayyy, that was just pure crazy talk, Ter. But somehow I get the feeling i might need to pick up some pepsi from the grocery store. You're on your own for Valium though--steal some from AJ while he's drugged out and then tell him it was a nurse that stole it. Also see if you can score us some morphine and lortab--then we might actually enjoy this get together!!

Uh.. where have i been in all of these conversations. I guess in neverland. But maybe everyone is done reading these and won;t even notice that I finally chimed in. So.. I think this all sounds great. And Ang I would really love a baby bed, and probably a car seat too. Do you still have that stroller that I used last time? If not I will just bring my cheap little stroller because I don't think the big jogger one will fit anywhere. Also a high chair would be great, but we could probably all just rotate the babies? I am so excited I can't beleive it is just around the corner.
